The rich ex-Parisian banker was an amasser of French furniture and art objects from the eighteenth century. Architect René Sergent to built him a private mansion in Paris Moïse de Camondoxt next to Parc Monceau to house his collection with a little room left over for his family.

With its Wood-paneled apartments the Museum is still, more or less, in its original condition.
